About Rob
Rob Van Der Schans joined the Canyon Creek staff in November of 2018 and has over 35 years of experience in the tennis industry. As a junior, Rob competed in, and won, over 30 tournaments in Spain, England, Dubai, the Netherlands and the United States. He also played on full scholarship for the nationally ranked University of Texas at Tyler, and was ranked #50 in the country . Starting his professional career in Irving, Rob was the Head Tennis Professional at Four Seasons Resort before moving to Louisville, Kentucky. During his time there, he held the position of Director of Racquet Sports at the prestigious Louisville Boat Club. In 2001, Rob was ranked #1 in the Kentucky Men's "Open" Doubles Division, and his contributions to Kentucky tennis earned him the USPTA Southern 2002 Kentucky Pro of the Year award. Rob is a USPTA Elite and USPTR Pro certified teaching professional, and has served as the President of the Dallas Professional Tennis Association (DPTA).
Ben Simon

About Ben
Ben has been involved in high performance tennis coaching for almost 30 years. He formed BSTA back in 2002 and was the co-owner of Strive Tennis academy in Atlanta GA. Both academies were recognized by the USTA for producing top nationally ranked and ITF players. During that time, he has developed over 200 players who went on to play high level Collegiate tennis on scholarships, from NAIA to NCAA 1 college level. Many have gone to play on tour and have reached as high as top 200 ATP/WTA. Some of Ben’s former students include his son Coy Simon who finished top 10 in the nation in B18’. Coy is now playing for the University of Tennessee Knoxville team is currently #3 in NCAA 1. Emma Navarro officially finished 2019 at 3 in the world junior ITF and 250 WTA in her senior year of high school; she is now a freshman for Virginia. Another former student John Harrison Richmond finished top 5 in the nation in every age category B 12-18.
Peter Hancy

About Peter
Peter Hancy joined the Canyon Creek staff in September of 2011 and brings with him a full resume of Division I Collegiate Tennis at Oklahoma State where he received a BS in Economics and was two time Big Eight Singles and Doubles Champion. He also coached at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he was voted Coach of the year award for the Conference. He led the team to a Conference Championship and qualified for the NCAA Div. 1 tournament.Peter grew up in Australia and was ranked #1 in the state of Victoria 12's-18's and top 8 in Australia in 14's-18's. He reached a career high of #4 in 16's. He is the former Director of Tennis at Hackberry Creek Country Club and Head Tennis Professional at Las Colinas Country Club. Peter has also served the tennis community as both President of the Dallas Professional Tennis Association and Chairman of the Dallas Cup. He is currently the Director of the Future Champ Junior Program and works with all skill levels of men, women and juniors.

About Cameron
Cameron Vose joined the Canyon Creek staff in June of 2019 and has 9 years of experience in the tennis industry. Cameron grew up in Duncanville, Texas where he played for Duncanville High School’s tennis team. Cameron went on to play collegiate tennis at Dallas Baptist University and Hardin-Simmons University. Immediately, following graduating with a Bachelors in English and a minor in coaching, Cameron began working for Dallas Tennis Education Academy’s junior tennis program. He became Net Generation certified and transitioned to a Junior Director job at The Lakes of Castle Hills Country Club in Lewisville, before being named Interim Head Tennis Professional in 2018. Cameron has a strong passion for working with young athletes. He is driven by encouraging his students to find success both on and off the tennis court.
Michael Martinez

About Michael
Michael Martinez has been at Canyon Creek since August, 2009 and in that time has developed a strong following. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1993 and was a NCAA Division I All American. While playing for OU, he won the Big 8 Conference titles in Singles, Doubles, and Team Tennis. He went on to play on the ATP Tour, earning ATP points in both singles and doubles. He was ranked as high as 35 in the nation in NCAA Division 1 and top 15 in doubles. Michael was also an assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma Men’s Tennis Team after graduation. He is USPTA, P-1 certified.

About Michael
Former Head Pro and Adult Director at The Courts McKinney Tennis Center. As a junior, Michael was ranked top 120 in the state of Texas during his junior and senior years of high school. Following his junior tennis, Michael was a Division 3 All-Conference player for Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Michael has 12 years of coaching experience and enjoys developing tennis players of all ages, while making sure everyone has fun in the process.
John Singer

About John
John Singer has proudly accepted the position of Tennis Professional at Canyon Creek Country Club. He comes to us with a wealth of experience in the tennis industry. John has been a USPTA certified tennis professional for 35 years and recently obtained his Level 2 Pickleball certification with IPTPA. John was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in adaptive physical education (working with physically handicapped children). During his time at Westminster he lettered all four years in tennis having played in the NAIA Division, competing in both singles and doubles. He started his professional career in 1983 at Park Forest Tennis & Health Club, Park Forest, Illinois, serving as their Director of Tennis for13 years. Heidi Waddell

About Heidi
Heidi joined the staff at Canyon Creek in August of 2020. A USPTA Elite Professional, she moved to Texas from Orlando, Florida. There she was an instructor at the USTA National Campus for juniors and adults. Before that, she was a teaching pro at the tennis center on the campus of the University of Illinois. Heidi has also worked in clubs and resorts in Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland.Originally from Massachusetts, Heidi grew up playing tennis and competing as a junior and in high school. She then went on to be a two sport collegiate athlete at Guilford College in North Carolina.

About Joseph
Joseph Salinas joined the Canyon Creek staff in May 2021 and has had 5 years of experience in the tennis industry.
Joseph grew up in the Houston area where he played for Deer Park High School’s tennis team. He then played for East Texas Baptist University where he became a Division 3 All-Conference player. He graduated from East Texas Baptist University with Bachelors in General Studies with a concentration in Business & Kinesiology. During his collegiate tenure, he served as a tennis instructor for the Houston Tennis Association and coordinated summer youth programs. Joseph has provided private lessons to children and adults of all ages.
His passion for tennis allows him to provide a great experience to individuals of all ages and levels.
