1957

Invited is founded

Invited is founded by Robert H. Dedman Sr. on November 11, and construction begins on Brookhaven Country Club in the Farmers Branch suburb of Dallas. Brookhaven is the first in what will become a collection of more than 200 golf and country clubs, business clubs, sports clubs and alumni clubs operating in 30 states, the District of Columbia and two foreign countries.

1966

The Lancers Club

The Lancers Club, Invited’s first business club, opens at the top of the LTV Tower in downtown Dallas. The mission of the Club is to provide fine quality food and first-class service for Members seeking to entertain family, friends and business associates.

1968

The University Club of Jacksonville, FL

The University Club of Jacksonville, FL, Invited’s first business and sports club, is built to answer the growing interest in fitness and health by combining a state-of-the-art athletic facility with the ambience and personalized service of a city club.

1981

Invited acquires the legendary Firestone Country Club

Invited acquires the legendary Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH. Firestone Country Club was established in 1929 by Harvey Firestone and hosts the World Golf Championships – NEC Invitational (known today as the Bridgestone Invitational).

1986

Private Clubs magazine is launched

Private Clubs magazine is launched as a vehicle for communicating with Members and reflecting Members' interests and experiences.

1994

Invited develops and opens Capital Club

Invited develops and opens Capital Club in Beijing; and the U.S. Senior Open is conducted at Pinehurst in July.

1996

Invited develops and opens Tower Club

Invited develops and opens Tower Club in Singapore.

1998

Alumni clubs

Alumni clubs Boston College Club and University of Texas Club open.

1999

Invited offers the first Gold program

Invited offers the first Gold program, providing golf and dining benefits with access to a worldwide network – a distinguishing benefit of the Invited model. Business and sports clubs are repositioned as “the office away from the office,” establishing a worldwide network of business and business-sports clubs for Members. Invited purchases 16 golf and country clubs from Cobblestone Golf Group, and hosts one of the most successful U.S. Open Championships in history at Pinehurst.

2002

Invited opens Bear’s Best Las Vegas

Invited opens Bear’s Best Las Vegas, a unique, daily fee golf course concept featuring hole replications of designs by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The course is the first such project resulting from a 1998 joint venture agreement between Invited and the Nicklaus companies to develop properties together.

2005

Invited hosts the U.S. Open

Invited hosts the U.S. Open at Pinehurst; and University of Massachusetts Club opens.

2006

Supporting a commitment to managing family-friendly clubs

Supporting a commitment to managing family-friendly clubs, Invited and The Clubs of Kingwood, in Houston, introduce one of the first family-friendly golf courses including kids’ golf programs, kid golf cars and four-seater family golf cars. KSL acquires Invited.

2007

Invited holds its inaugural Charity Classic golf and dining event

Invited holds its inaugural Charity Classic golf and dining event, raising in excess of $1.6 million for MDA’s Augie’s Quest and the Employee Partners Care Foundation.

2008

Invited acquires Seville Golf & Country Club

Invited acquires Seville Golf & Country Club in Gilbert, Arizona.

2009

Invited launches the Dallas-Fort Worth Young Executive Membership

Invited launches the Dallas-Fort Worth Young Executive Membership, providing young executives and their families an unprecedented level of access to a network of 10 private clubs across the DFW Metroplex. Mission Hills Country Club, in Rancho Mirage, CA, is recognized as the nation’s finest tennis facility within the USTA’s inaugural Featured Facility Award.

2010

Invited acquires The Country Club of the South

Invited acquires The Country Club of the South in Georgia. The Country Club of the South, with its signature Jack Nicklaus course, further expands the Invited portfolio in the greater Atlanta market. Also in Atlanta, the historic Commerce Club aligns with the One Ninety One Club to form the new renovated and expanded Commerce Club. Invited develops and opens The Texas Tech Club in Lubbock, Texas. Eric Affeldt, president and CEO of Invited, ranks No. 1 on the Golf Inc. “Most Powerful People in Golf” list.

2011

Invited expands in New York

Invited expands in New York (The Hamlet Golf & Country Club, Willow Creek Golf & Country Club and Wind Watch Golf & Country Club) and Washington state (Canterwood Golf & Country Club).

2012

Invited adds Mission Hills Golf Club & Resort

Invited adds Mission Hills Golf Club & Resort in China to its network of properties in its reciprocal access program, expands its club management portfolio with LPGA International and Hollytree Country Club, and acquires Hartefeld National. The iconic Houston Club joins forces with Downtown Clubs of Houston’s Plaza location to form the new Houston Club in a new, renovated location at One Shell Plaza.

2013

Invited Holdings, Inc. becomes a publicly traded company

Invited Holdings, Inc. becomes a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: MYCC). Invited expands in Oklahoma (Oak Tree Country Club), New Jersey (Cherry Valley Country Club) and Virginia (Chantilly National Golf and Country Club).

2014

Invited acquires Prestonwood Country Club

Invited acquires Prestonwood Country Club (rebranded as The Clubs of Prestonwood) in Texas, TPC Piper Glen in North Carolina, TPC Michigan and Oro Valley Country Club in Arizona. Invited opens the Baylor Club in Waco, Texas. Eric Affeldt ranked No. 1 on Golf Inc. magazine’s 2014 “Most Powerful People in Golf” list. Invited acquires Sequoia Golf with its portfolio of 50 owned and operated clubs, including the Canongate collection and The Woodlands Country Club.

2015

Invited adds two country clubs in Chicago

Invited adds two country clubs in Chicago with the acquisition of Ravinia Green Country Club and Rolling Green Country Club. Invited completes acquisition of multi-club portfolio including Bermuda Run Country Club just west of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Brookfield Country Club outside of Atlanta, Georgia; Firethorne Country Club near Charlotte, North Carolina; Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Virginia; Temple Hills Country Club outside of Nashville, Tennessee; and Legacy Golf Club near Tampa, Florida (later divested). Eric Affeldt tops Golf Inc.’s 2015 “Most Powerful” list for second year in a row. Invited acquires Bernardo Heights Country Club in San Diego, California.

2016

Invited expands in Jacksonville, FL

Invited expands in Jacksonville, Florida with acquisition of Marsh Creek Country Club; acquires Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club in Sonoma County, California and Heritage Golf Club near Columbus, Ohio; and announces deal to manage the China-US SkyClub in NY One World Trade Center.

2017

Invited celebrates the 60-year anniversary

Invited celebrates the 60-year anniversary of its founding and expands into two new states with the acquisition of Eagle's Nest Country Club in Phoenix, Maryland and Norbeck Country Club in Rockville, MD, and Medina Golf & Country Club in Medina, Minnesota. Invited also purchases North Hills Country Club in North Hills, Pennsylvania and Oakhurst Golf & Country Club in Clarkson, Michigan. Invited is acquired by certain investment funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management. Eric Affeldt retires as CEO.

2018

Invited opens The Collective

Invited opens its newest private club concept, The Collective, a high-impact urban club for the mind, body and soul, and continues to drive the golf experience forward by teaming with Full Swing, the leader in sports simulator technology, to provide year-round golf entertainment at six select clubs, and the opening of the new Drive Zone, a new interactive range and outdoor lounge featuring Toptracer Range by Topgolf. Invited acquires The Ridge Club in Sandwich, MA and Brookstone Golf & Country Club in Acworth, GA. Mark Burnett, President and COO, transitions out and David Pillsbury transitions in as the new CEO. Invited announces the introduction of ClubLife Management, a comprehensive management services division for private clubs, destination resorts and premier daily-fee golf courses; and purchases a controlling interest in BigShots Golf, a cutting-edge golf and entertainment company powered by BigShots Golf proprietary technology.

2019

Invited acquires TPC Craig Ranch

Invited acquires TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX. In addition, seven premier lifestyle golf clubs were acquired from Toll Golf, the golf and country club division of Toll Brothers, Inc. including Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA; Dominion Valley Country Club and Regency at Dominion Valley in Haymarket, VA; Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, NC; Hasentree in Wake Forest, NC; Jupiter Country Club in Jupiter, FL; and Oak Creek Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, MD.

2020

In answer to the worldwide pandemic caused by COVID-19

In answer to the worldwide pandemic caused by COVID-19 and the restrictions on access to clubs and services due to government mandates, Invited introduces #ClubLifeTogether virtual events on social media including cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, craft and etiquette classes, FitLife fitness classes and more. ClubLife MarketPlace, a new virtual shopping experience including vendors from a variety of prominent brands, is offered to Members with preferred pricing.

2021

Invited teams up with First Tee

Invited teams up with First Tee to create the ClubLife Gateway program at select clubs in North Texas. The program provides young adult participants in First Tee with complimentary Junior Memberships that grant them access to local private clubs and mentors from the business community. PGA Golf Professional Kamaiu Johnson is named ambassador for the program.
